Our Culture
Upon taking over the leadership of the company from their parents, Dick and Tom Wake sat down and wrote what they called at the time, their "Tree House Rules." These "Rules" have become our core culture and are as relevant today as the day they were written.
- Urgency - We have a sense of urgency in everything we do. We don't talk about it - we do it and do it now!!!
- Problems - Everyone at Eby-Brown is a problem solver. We'll fix any problem we encounter, and scream for help if we can't solve it ourselves!
- Detail - There are a million details in everything we do. We don't ignore details. We pay attention to them.
- Follow-Through - If you say you're going to do something, do it when it is expected. Don't make someone ask twice.
- Communicate - If we can't immediately solve a situation, we'll tell you when you can expect us to get back to you.
- Customer is (2nd only to) God - We don't "deal" with customers. We worship them, make them our friends, and make them like us so much they don't ever want to leave us.
- Employment - Our paychecks may say "Eby Brown", but our customer is our employer. He/she can fire us at any time for any reason.
- No and Can't - We always ask our managers for permission before we use the words "No and Can't" with one of our customers. If there is a good reason - it's rare.
- Co-workers - We treat our co-workers as our customers. Re-read the above!
- Fun - We spend at least 33% of our waking hours at Eby-Brown so we have fun and are fun. If we don't enjoy our jobs and have fun doing them, we won't be very good at them. We share ideas on how to make employment more enjoyable for us all. That's the Eby-Brown Culture.
